Throughout life, we are accompanied by objects, memories and life’s imprints that determine our view of the world. My work concentrates on our perception of the world and the interaction between perception and the personal ‘baggage’ we accumulate with time.
By deliberately selecting specific objects, dipping them in porcelain slip and then firing them, I transform these objects into shells. What remains is the space of something that once was, encased within a shell, inviting us to contemplate what may have been.
Sometimes I then cast the resulting porcelain casings in resin.
What emerges is a snapshot of a moment frozen in time.
